Signal for iOS has a new beta version: 7.63. What’s new in this update?
The latest version of Signal for iOS includes various bug fixes and technical improvements.
Improved Quoted Messages
A useful enhancement can be found with quoted messages. When you now tap on a quoted message, the chat not only automatically scrolls to the original message, but the message is also briefly highlighted with a short animation.
The message bubble gets a slightly different color, as shown in the screenshots below:
Thanks to this change, the quoted message now stands out better among your other messages.
Note to Self
Another improvement is that “Note to Self” now stands out more in your contact list. This special chat is now displayed in your contacts as “Note to Self” with a badge. Previously, you had to search for your own name.
“Note to Self” is a special chat with yourself that you can use to take notes or, for example, send photos and videos to yourself. Since this chat is synced with Signal Desktop, some people use it to quickly and securely transfer files from their mobile phone to their computer or laptop, or vice versa.
In addition to the improvements for quoted messages and ‘Note to Self’, the developers have also continued working on the upcoming (cloud) backup feature. This feature is not yet available but is currently being tested internally.
