Signal is working on pinned messages

Nov 21, 2025

Signal will soon introduce another new handy feature: pinned messages at the top of a chat. The feature is currently in development and will be available on all platforms: Android, iOS, and Desktop.

A pinned message will be displayed at the top of a chat for a certain period of time for all participants. With this feature, you can prevent important messages from getting lost among other messages. This is useful, for example, for announcements, appointments, or group rules that all members need to see.

The first hints of pinned messages can now be found in the Signal source code for iOS (Github Commit 2606068 and d5fa2dd).

In a response, a Signal spokesperson confirmed to us that they are currently working on pinned messages and that this feature is being developed for all platforms. Pinned messages will be available in 1:1 chats and in groups. As usual, Signal could not say when this feature will be available.

Signal greatly improved and more to come

Recently, Signal has released many new features. For example, Signal introduced polls on all platforms this week, allowing you to easily vote in groups. Signal for iOS finally received a backup feature this week with Signal Secure Backups, along with a completely new “Liquid Glass” design. On Signal Desktop, notification profiles and chat folders have been introduced recently.

Signal will also soon support Android tablets, and now we’re just waiting for pinned messages.

If you haven’t used Signal for a while or don’t have Signal yet, download the latest version and try out the new features.
