Signal Desktop has a new beta version: 7.72. What’s new in this update?
The latest version of Signal Desktop includes minor tweaks, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
The Signal developers have mainly focused on backups. Like Signal for Android and iOS, Signal Desktop will offer two types of optional backups: Signal Secure Backups (hosted by Signal) and local backups.

In Signal Desktop, you can find Signal Secure Backups under Settings > Backups:
Signal Secure Backups come in both a free and a paid version. By clicking the Manage button, you can see which backup subscription you have and when it will renew or expire. You can also check in the backup details when and on which device you last made a backup.
Additionally, in this screen, you can monitor the progress of media synchronization when you relinked Signal Desktop and choose to transfer your chat history:
Signal is prioritizing the rollout of Signal Secure Backups. Local backups are still in development and will be added to Signal Desktop at a later stage.
