Signal raises limit for audio and video calls to 75 participants

Feb. 6, 2026

Signal is set to increase the maximum number of participants in group calls from 50 to 75. We discovered this on a recently updated Signal support Seite and in Signal’s description in the Microsoft Store.

With Signal, you will soon be able to make secure voice and video calls with up to 74 other people at the same time. This makes Signal even more suitable for online meetings and presentations.

Signal has not yet officially announced the increase to the group call limit. However, since the number of 75 participants is mentioned both on the support page and in the Microsoft Store, this does not appear to be a mistake.

At the moment, the change is only visible on the English-language support page. This suggests that the update was implemented recently and has not yet been processed by Signal’s translators.

Signal as a secure alternative to Zoom and Teams

Unlike popular meeting apps such as Zoom and Teams, (video) calls on Signal are end-to-end encrypted by default. This means that no one other than the participants can watch or listen in, which is especially important for private conversations or confidential business information.

In addition, Signal offers nearly everything that Zoom and Teams do: call links, screen sharing, raising hands, and emoji reactions. You can join group calls from your Android phone, iPhone, or via Signal Desktop. Signal Desktop is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

With the increase from 50 to 75 participants, Signal becomes even more suitable as a secure alternative to Zoom or Teams for safe voice and video calls with friends, family, or colleagues.

As soon as more news becomes available, you’ll of course read about it on our website and social media channels.
