Sneak preview: Signal for Android tablets (first screenshots)

Nov 21, 2025

Signal for Android tablets is getting closer. We’ve received a sneak preview, were able to test the app on an Android tablet, and can now share the first screenshots.

At the moment, Signal only supports iPads. Tablets running Android, such as those from Samsung, Lenovo, Huawei, and Xiaomi, are not yet supported by Signal.

In August of this year, we found the first hints toward Android tablet support in the source code, and last month Signal confirmed that Android tablets are already being tested internally.

Now we can also share the first images of Signal on an Android tablet. The feature is still in development, so the final design may change.

Signal has designed an entirely new user interface with a split-screen view: on the left side of the screen you’ll see your chat list, and on the right your current chat.

Customizable layout on an Android tablet

By swiping with your finger, you can adjust the layout of your screen. You can choose to display only the chat by sliding the middle bar to the left.

If you prefer the chat list in full-screen mode, then you swipe to the right.

Eventually, you will be able to use Signal on an Android tablet both as a standalone device and as a linked device.

Still in development, coming soon

As mentioned, the feature is still under development and the final design may differ from these screenshots, but the foundation for Android tablet support has been laid.

It’s still unknown when Android tablet support will be available. As soon as there’s more news, you’ll of course read about it on AboutSignal.com and our social media channels BlueskyMastodon ou X.
