Signal iOS update: muting other participants in calls one step closer

Jan 15, 2026

Signal has a new beta version for iOS: 7.92. What’s new in this update?

The latest version of Signal for iOS includes several bug fixes and other improvements. For example, a bug with the background color of the emoji selection sheet during calls has been fixed, and text improvements have been made around replies to stories.

Mute other participants in Signal calls

In this version, the app is also prepared for muting other participants in calls, a feature we mentioned earlier in our preview of Signal in 2026.

Soon it will be possible in Signal to mute someone else in the call. This is useful, for example, if someone talks for too long, if you want to jump in briefly, or to mute someone who does not realize their microphone is on. When you mute someone, no one in the call can hear that person.

Pinned messages

A lot of work has also been done on the new Pinned messages feature, which will soon come to Signal. A pinned message will be displayed at the top of a chat or group for all participants.

This feature is currently being developed for iOS, Android, and Desktop. The first screenshots of pinned messages in Signal for Android can be found here. The iOS design will, of course, look slightly different, but the feature will function in the same way.
