Signal for iOS has a new beta version: 7.78. What’s new in this update?
This latest version of Signal for iOS includes several bug fixes and other improvements. For example, a bug was fixed that caused the camera to stay blank when scanning a QR code to link a new device.
iOS 26 support in the works
The update also includes work on support for iOS 26 and design adjustments with Apple’s “liquid glass” effect.
According to a developer on the community forum, Signal will not offer full support for iOS 26 from day one, but work is ongoing. The new iOS version has caused more interface issues than expected, and the team needs some extra time to resolve them.
Polls in Signal
Additionally, this update brings progress on polls for groups in Signal. Polls allow you to ask a question and provide multiple answer options, making it easy for group members to vote. As the poll creator, you can specify whether participants can select one or multiple answers, and you can also stop polls manually.
This update adds notifications for polls, such as when a new poll starts or ends, and introduces buttons to view poll results.
The highly requested feature is clearly well developed, but it’s still unclear when polls will be available in Signal. As soon as there’s more news, you can read it on AboutSignal.com and our social media channels Bluesky, Mastodon or X.
Signal Secure Backups
Finally, work on backups for iOS has continued. Signal Secure Backups have already been rolled out to Android, and iOS users won’t have to wait much longer before Signal’s secure backups are available.
