Signal offers several options during voice and video calls to make conversations easier, more organized, and more interactive. Depending on your device, you can use features such as screen sharing, raising your hand, emoji reactions, and muting participants.
These features help you communicate more effectively during 1:1 calls e group calls, whether you are giving a presentation, managing a meeting, or simply having a conversation with friends or colleagues.

With call links in Signal, you can easily invite people to join a group call without creating a group first. Simply create a call link and share it with anyone you want to invite. As the creator, you can choose whether new participants need to be approved before joining. Read more about call links in our article: How to use call links in Signal?

A useful feature of Signal is that you can share your screen or a specific window with the other participant(s) during a call. This can be useful for giving a presentation or letting someone view your screen when you need help troubleshooting a computer issue. While sharing your screen, you can still type and chat.
You can only share your screen when no one else is currently presenting.
Screen sharing is currently only available for Desktop and Android. To share your screen during a call on Desktop, click the grey button with the white square and upward arrow. To share your screen during a call on Android, click the triple dots button and select Share screen. These buttons are only available during calls, so you first need to start a call before you can share your screen.
On Desktop, you can choose to share your entire screen or only a specific window. If you have multiple screens connected, you can select which screen you want to share.
When you are finished sharing your screen, click the presentation icon again to stop sharing.
Note: If you share your screen during a video call, your video will no longer be shown while you are presenting. Once you stop sharing your screen, Signal will automatically switch back to your video.
The screen-sharing feature is only available during Signal calls. However, you can also share your screen without actually having a conversation. To do this, simply mute your microphone and turn off your camera (if enabled) before or during the call using the buttons at the bottom of the call window.
You can then type and chat while sharing your screen. Simply minimize the call or video call window to continue chatting. The minimize icon can be found in the top-right corner of the call window. This allows you to share your screen or a specific window in Signal without using audio.
Raise hand
With the hand-raising feature in group calls, you can indicate when you want to speak without interrupting others. This helps keep conversations organized and prevents participants from talking over each other. You can also use the hand-raising feature to easily and clearly vote on proposals with a group.
To raise your hand during a group call on Desktop, simply tap the button with the hand icon at the bottom of your screen. To raise your hand during a group call on Android and iOS, first tap the button with the three dots and select Raise hand.
When you or someone else raises a hand, a hand icon will appear at the bottom of the call. If you tap or click the icon, you can see a list of raised hands and the order in which they were raised. Anyone in the call can see the list of raised hands.
You can lower your hand by tapping the hand icon, and select Lower hand.
Reazioni emoji
With emoji reactions in group calls, you can quickly respond without interrupting the conversation. This allows you to share your reaction or opinion in a simple and visual way while keeping the call organized.
To send an emoji reaction during a group call on Desktop, simply click the emoji button at the bottom of your screen and select a reaction. To send an emoji reaction during a group call on Android and iOS, first tap the button with the three dots and select the emoji reaction you want to use.
Bonus: if three or more people react with the same emoji within a short period of time, you’ll see a fun emoji burst.
Mute other participants
With the mute participants feature in group calls, you can mute other participants to reduce background noise or interruptions. This can be useful when someone forgets to mute their microphone or when there is unwanted noise during a call.

You can also mute someone from the participants list. In a group call, tap the Info icon, or on Desktop click the participant count to open the participants list. Then on Android, long-press the participant’s name and select Mute Audio. On iOS and Desktop, tap … next to the participant’s name and select Mute Audio.
