Signal Desktop update: improvements to notifications and notification profiles

Oct 31, 2025

Signal Desktop has a new beta version: 7.78. What’s new in this update?

This latest version of Signal Desktop includes several bug fixes and other technical improvements. For example, a bug has been fixed that sometimes prevented notifications from appearing on Windows.

Another improvement involves the recently introduced notification profiles. With notification profiles, you can choose how, when, and from whom you receive notifications. Previously, if you had excluded certain chats, you wouldn’t receive notifications from them, but they would still be counted in the app icon badge. That’s no longer the case. Thanks to this update, you won’t be distracted in any way by new messages from people or groups you’ve temporarily excluded.

Signal has also made improvements for screen reader users. You’ll no longer hear the same timestamp repeated every time a new message arrives in a thread.

Finally, as in previous weeks, work has continued on the upcoming Polls feature. This feature is already well developed across all platforms, but it’s not yet known when it will be released.
