Signal AppImage now officially available for Linux

23 Giugno 2026 06:59 CEST

Signal Desktop AppImage is now officially available for Linux users. This makes Signal accessible on all Linux distributions, rather than only Debian-based systems.

After first launching in beta late last year, a Signal developer announced on the Community forum that the AppImage build has now moved into production. The AppImage can be downloaded from sito web ufficiale di Signal.

The AppImage can be used on most 64-bit Linux distributions. Signal will continue to provide Debian packages for Debian-based systems such as Ubuntu, which remains the recommended option for those distributions.

To install the AppImage, go to the Signal for Linux download page and follow the instructions. The AppImage supports automatic updates, which can be configured in settings. For more information and optional setup details you can visit the Signal Support site.

With Signal AppImage, Signal Desktop is now more widely available across the Linux ecosystem. This Linux expansion makes Signal more accessible, and there’s more to come. Il supporto per i tablet Android is also in development.
