Signal introduces group suggestions when creating new groups on Android

Signal is continuously working on new features to further improve the app. The developers have now made a great improvement for group creation: existing group suggestions.

When you create a new group and select exactly the same members, your existing groups with those members will be suggested.

This helps prevent duplicate or unnecessary groups. By tapping a suggestion, you can immediately open the existing group and continue the conversation there:

When doing so, you’ll need to confirm that you want to continue to the existing group and cancel creating a new group:

Group suggestions make it easier to find your existing group conversations and prevent duplicate chats with the same participants.

The new feature is available in the latest beta version of Signal for Android (8.17) and will soon be release to the stable version. It’s not yet known when the changes will be available for iOS and Desktop. Once features are officially released, Signal aims to make them available across all platforms. As soon as there is more news, you will find it on our website and social media.

Group suggestions is one of the six features we previewed last month in our post about Signal Labs.
