The group settings provide a range of options for managing your Signal group. You can configure permissions, manage disappearing messages, control group links, and decide who can edit group information and add new members.
Open the group settings by tapping the group name at the top of the chat, or via the three dot menu > Group settings.
Group links
Next to manually adding members, you can invite others to a Signal group by creating a group link and sharing it with them. Group links can be shared via other apps or, for example, by email. You can also choose to approve new members before they join the group. If the recipient of the group link doesn’t yet have Signal, they will see a link to download Signal.
Go to Group Settings > Group links, to turn the group link on or off.

A disappearing message is a message that is automatically deleted after a set amount of time. The disappearing messages setting affects all members of the group. For a sent disappearing message, the timer starts after you’ve sent it. For a received disappearing message, the timer starts after you’ve read it. In groups, the disappearing message timer starts individually for each recipient when they read the message.
Who can set disappearing messages for the group depends on the “Who can edit group info” setting. Depending on that setting, either only admins or all members can change the disappearing messages timer.
Who can add members
Go to Group Settings > Permissions > Add members, to control which members are allowed to add new people to the group: all members or only admins.
Who can edit group info
Go to Group Settings > Permissions > Edit group info, to control which members are allowed to change the group name, description, group photo and disappearing messages timer: all members or only admins.
Who can send messages and start calls
Go to Group Settings > Permissions > Send messages, to control which members are allowed to send messages and start calls: all members or only admins.
When this is set to admins only, groups can be used as an announcement group or channel. Members cannot reply to messages, and can only read, use emoji reactions and vote in polls.
Who can add member labels
With member labels, you can give a short description about yourself or role in a group that is visible to all current and future group members. This is especially useful in larger groups where not everyone knows each other personally, such as a neighborhood group, a work group with colleagues from different departments, or a sports club chat.
Go to Group Settings > Permissions > Add member labels, to control which members are allowed to add member labels: all members or only admins.
