Signal groups make it easy to communicate securely with multiple people. A group can have up to 1,000 members.
To create a group in Signal, follow these steps:
- Open Signal, tap the pencil icon, then tap New Group.
- Select the contacts you want to add, or search by name, username or phone number. You can also add members later, either by adding them manually or using a group link or a QR code.
- Tap Next.
- Enter a group name (required). Optionally, tap the camera icon to set a group photo. You can choose an image from your gallery, take a photo, use one of the default avatars, or create a text avatar (up to 3 characters) using one of the preset color schemes.
- Choose whether you want to enable Disappearing Messages. By default, this option is Off.
- Tap Create to create the group. The group will immediately appear in the chat list for both you and the group members.
- Some participants may need to accept the message request or invitation before they can join the group.
With Signal, you can also make group calls, including both voice and video calls. Read more: How to make group calls (voice or video) in Signal?
